A project to upgrade a hotel to a 5-star status in Elounda has officially been put to public consultation.
The project concerns the 4-star hotel unit “INNSIDE ELOUNDA”, located in the “Pigaidakia” area of the Elounda Municipal Community, within the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi.
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project is open for public consultation until June 12, 2026. The investor behind the project is the company ZEUS EDITION SINGLE-MEMBER S.A.
Investment Profile
According to the EIA, the project involves the existing hotel property (formerly the 4-star “Elounda Ilion,” previously owned by “PEGASUS S.A.”) and its complete upgrade into a premium 5-star hotel complex. It will have a capacity of 78 rooms and 156 beds under the new ownership.
The property covers a total area of 13,399.66 square meters and features access from a municipal road to the east, in accordance with the entry/exit approval granted by the Agios Nikolaos municipal council.
The upgraded 5-star facility boasts a highly privileged location in “Pigaidakia,” offering unique, panoramic views of the natural landscape, the sea, the wider Elounda area, and the bay.
In summary, the renovation and upgrade works include:
- Construction & Infrastructure: Upgrades including roof thermal insulation, replacement of all window and door frames, and the modernization of the wastewater treatment plant. It also includes the complete reconstruction of the existing swimming pool and the creation of brand-new ones.
- Mechanical Systems: The total replacement of the buildings’ heating, air conditioning, and domestic hot water (DHW) systems.
- Landscaping: Significant enhancements to the surrounding outdoor areas, featuring extensive new planting designed to improve the local microclimate.
