Summer Nights in Elounda

From traditional Cretan festivals to live acoustic sessions by the water.

The Elounda Beach Party

16 August 2026

Just days after the traditional Panagia festivals, the village completely shifts gears. The main sands of Elounda transform into a massive open-air club. Featuring a lineup of local and guest EDM DJs, heavy bass, and incredible light shows reflecting off the Mirabello Bay, this is the biggest electronic music event of the summer.

Passholder Pro Tip: General admission gets you right onto the sand to dance until sunrise, but if you want one of the VIP beach beds or tables, you need to reserve it weeks in advance. Leave the heels at home—flip-flops are mandatory!

The Elounda F.C. Summer Glenti

16 July 2026

Hosted by the local Elounda Football Club, this massive traditional cretan party (glenti) is one of the most authentic, high-energy nights of the season. It is the perfect way to support the local squad ahead of their upcoming campaign while experiencing true Cretan hospitality. The club sets up rows of long wooden tables usually at the primary school of the village, serving up endless souvlaki and free-flowing local wine. With live, phenomenal Lyra music echoing through the streets, the whole town dances in traditional circles until well after midnight.

Passholder Pro Tip: This is incredibly popular with the locals, so you need to arrive early in the evening if you want to secure a seat at one of the main tables. Bring cash for the food and drink tickets, since last year they also accept card payments, and get ready to join the dance line!

The Afenti Hristou Glenti

5th August 2026

Escape the bustling harbor and head up into the traditional upper village of Pano Elounda for one of the most beloved and authentic gatherings of the summer. The Afenti Hristou glenti is a true celebration of community, famous throughout the region for its incredible feast. The absolute highlight of the night is the massive spread of authentic Cretan dishes lovingly prepared entirely from scratch by the local women of the village. Paired with live music and dancing, this night feels less like a public event and more like being invited to a massive, welcoming family dinner.

Passholder Pro Tip: Come with a very empty stomach! Because this takes place in the upper village, parking in the narrow streets can get a bit tricky. We recommend grabbing a quick taxi from the main harbor so you can enjoy the homemade wine without worrying about the drive back down.

Eve of the Feast of Saints Constantine and Helen

20th May 2026

If you want to experience a true Cretan celebration (a glenti), clear your schedule for Wednesday evening!

The Cultural Association of Elounda is hosting a massive open-air concert featuring the renowned local musicians Kostis and Giorgos Saridakis. Accompanied by Giorgos Lygerakis on the lute and Manolis Kritsotakis on the bass, the duo will be bringing the village square to life with the authentic, high-energy sounds of the Cretan lyra and lute.

Passholder Pro Tip: Head to the square a bit early to grab a table at one of the surrounding tavernas or cafes. Enjoy dinner or a drink while watching the square transform into a traditional Cretan festival. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the real, authentic side of Elounda!
